Chris Burch- Ideamensch
Chris Burch is the founder of Burch Creative Capital an investment firm in New York. He has been an entrepreneur for 30 years and has invested in a diverse range of industries. He is involved in the building of a variety of brands, including Tory Burch, Poppin and Voss Water. He has investments in Indonesia and owns a luxury resort called the Nihiwatu on the island of Sumba. He partnered with Philippe Stark an architect and Alan Faena a hotelier in Argentina to reconstruct the Faena Hotel+ Universe.
Burch teamed up with Ellen DeGeneres to promote her lifestyle brand, ED by Ellen DeGeneres. He also put Cocoon9 in motion, a company that creates energy saving, prefab homes with space-saving floor designs. He also has collaborations with BaubleBar, Blink Health and Brads’ Raw Foods. He has developed projects for Chubbies, Little Duck Organics and Soludos. When Burch was younger, he became interested in apparel and started his own career by supporting fellow entrepreneurs.
Even though he is a successful entrepreneur, Burch believes in remaining interested in the world around him and is fascinated by nature. His schedule is busy, and he travels often to remain informed and in touch with his investments. He has an interest in tiny houses and is implementing the idea into his hospitality endeavors. He credits much of his success to taking risks and being able to read people. He does not regret any failures that he has made but looks forward to the future and is influenced by Ellen DeGeneres and his friend Steve Ross.
Besides being an entrepreneur, Burch has been a board member of the Rothman Institute Orthopedic Foundation. He was the president of the Pierre Hotel Co-op Board and is a philanthropist. He has supported Mt. Sinai Hospital, NYU Langone, and The Sumba Foundation.
