Mike Baur

Mike Baur started his banking career at the tender age of sixteen. He left a successful but predictable path at two top Swiss banks to start a group called Swiss Start Up Factory, a small business incubator, which help small businesses improve their business plan and practices, and find funds and investors.

Baur earned his degrees from Bern University and University of Rochester. In 1991, he earned an apprenticeship at Union Bank of Switzerland and went on to be promoted to significant positions. He worked there until 2008 when he moved to the bank, Clariden Leu, at its Zurich office.

However, the Great Recession caused Baur to become disillusioned with the banking industry and its increasing amount of tedious paperwork so he left it completely in 2014 to start, with Max Meister, the Swiss Start Up Factory focusing on small technology companies.

The Swiss Start Up Factory aims to help small time entrepreneurs build their businesses through mentoring, funding, and physical perks like rent free office space. Each company can get three months assistance as well as the opportunity to network with other business leaders trying to build their enterprise from the ground up. The small business owners are also trained in marketing at all levels.

Through this effort, Baur has also been party to start up contests, acting as a judge. SMART Summiteer is a contest for enterprises with less than $1 million in funding and is held at a university each year. Each representative speaks about their business plans, models, practices, and financial experts weigh in, giving valuable advice to all and the most promising gain substantial investors.

In 2014, he also created Think Reloaded, providing high quality financial advice for wealthy investors. It went on to collaborate with the Swiss Start Up Factory with training and eventually arranged a Swiss Start Up Day. He then began working with BV4, a company that appraises intellectual property to help the entrepreneurs of Swiss Start Up Factory to protect their intellectual property, the greatest asset most small businesses possess.

Mike Baur is a brilliant financier and evaluator of risk. He knows the markets and can find a worthy idea a world of mediocre ones. These talents have gained him success allowing him to turn his business efforts to helping entrepreneurs build their businesses and find their own success.
